What to pack

Riding in the Himalayas always requires a range of clothing. The passes can get very cold and snowed under. As much as your riding jacket should protect you from the road, it should offer protection from the cold and also be well ventilated for when the sun shines brightly in the high altitude landscapes. You may also encounter rain, so please bring a rainsuit. Evenings in the mountains can be cold, therefore we advise you to bring a warm pullover, or a fleece jacket. Off the bike, lightweight clothes should be sufficient, provided you bring thermal underwear. The higher the altitude, the cooler the temperature. After the summer season, warm clothes are required.

Nepal, the land of truth, will take your breath away. We will take you from the bustling capital city of Kathmandu to serene Manang. From Manang we will go to up and down the Annapurna route and back to Chitwan National Park. Himalayas to the jungle and bustling cities. Nepal has everything you could dream of and more.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu. We will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel to get refreshed. There will be a welcome dinner at a local Nepalese restaurant. Shakedown ride in Kathmandu. Learn the roads and style of riding while making sure the bike is suited for you specifically.

Day 2

Kathmandu to Nuwakot. Wake up early for a long ride through the city to the beautiful old town. Its mostly pavement up to here. Just a few little off road sections.

Day 3

From Nuwakot we head toward Jagat. We go from pavement to rocky roads. There will not be a lot of traffic once we hit the dirt sections other than occasional bus. You can focus on the beautiful scenery. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 4

Jagat to Manang. Quite possibly the best riding and most challenging. Watch the as the rocks turn to dust and the dust turns to pine trees. This is so stunning you will not want to go home.

Day 5

Rest day in Manang. Soak up this mystical place on your day off. It can be cold so make sure you have some warm clothes to wander around in. This is a special place and should be explored.

Day 6

From Manang we head out early to Bandipur. It can be quite cold in the mornings but once the sun is up you will feel amazing. Back down the rock roads you came up and then some pavement as we climb higher and higher to Bandipur, a secret Tuscan village in the mountains of Nepal.

Day 7

From Bandipur we head towards the second biggest city in Nepal - Pokhara. This is mostly pavement and some city riding. Pohkara is a place where you can get into trouble if thats your thing or you can take a lazy boat ride on Fewa Lake and visit a temple or two. Likely you will have a great time no matter what your style is.

Day 8

Now we head towards Chitwan National Park. Again, mostly pavement. This is an amazing place you will see the secretive white rhino, crocs, elephants and more. We will take a jeep safari deep into the jungle. Overnight in the safari bungalow. Hopefully, we can see a tiger on the prowl.

Day 9

Finally, we head from Chitwan back to Kathmandu. Easy pavement and wild city riding. You will not be ready for your adventure to end, but all good things must end some time. One last dinner together and a stay at a beautiful hotel.

Day 10

Say goodbye to your ADV crew. Of course you can stay longer in Nepal and explore on your own from here. Don’t forget to let us know if you are coming early or staying later so we can make arrangements for you!

My ride with ADV on the Rocks through Nepal was a life-altering trip. I’ve never been so happy, so scared, so exhilarated and so well-fed on a trip in my life. I’ve always been an adventurous person, but never did the “moto trip”. Now that I have, I can’t wait to do another.
